Our entry into the custom beef/poultry business grew out of our own desire to have a first rate healthy meat supply. We were greatly influenced by Joel Salatin's books, Salad Bar Beef and Pastured Poultry Profits.
Friends began to ask "can we buy some of your beef, chicken, and turkey?" And so it grew.
Our operation is very small with 2-6 batches of broilers raised each year, 1 batch of turkeys, and 2-8 beef processed. The law requires beef to be ordered before the animal is processed and we sell by the 1/4 or 1/2. The products can be picked up here at the farm.
It gives us great satisfaction that our meat animals live out their lives in pastures and not in artificial close confinement. They are all free of antibiotics and steroids. Most of the food in the USA travels 1500 miles or more to reach the consumer. We are pleased to be part of a trend of farmers connecting locally with their customers. |
